Not your everyday visit to the zoo – A Sri Lankan man had “parts of his arms, legs, chest and groin area” bit off when he jumped naked into a lions’ den at the national zoo, apparently offering himself up as a feast for the animals. Apparently he had written a letter before jumping into the den saying he wanted to give ‘alms’ to the lions. Giving alms, according to Buddhist belief, can earn merit for future incarnations.
